During the breeding season, the males use their incredibly loud calls to attract females. The males will perch on a high branch and sing a two-part call, which starts out as a soft whistling noise before transitioning into an ear-piercing shriek that can be heard up to a mile away.
The females are attracted to the males with the loudest calls, and the male that can produce the loudest call will usually win the female’s affection. Once the female has chosen her mate, they will build a nest together on a high branch, where the female will lay her eggs.
