National PET DAY

HISTORY

National Pet Day was founded in 2006 by Colleen Paige, an animal welfare advocate, to celebrate the joy pets bring to our lives and raise awareness about the plight of animals in shelters. It is observed annually on April 11th.

SIGNIFICANCE

It's a day to celebrate and appreciate the unconditional love and companionship that pets bring into our lives. It's a reminder to treat our pets with love, care and respect and to raise awareness about pet adoption, health, and welfare.

HOW TO CELEBRATE

1. Spend some quality time with your pet. Take them for a walk, play with them, or simply cuddle up with them on the couch.

2. Treat your pet to something special. This could be a new toy, a tasty treat.

3. Take some cute photos of your pet and share them on social media. Don't forget to use the hashtag #NationalPetDay!

4. Consider making a donation to a local animal shelter or rescue organization in honor of National Pet Day.

5. Give your pet a grooming session. Brush their fur, clip their nails, or give them a bath.

6. Have a pet-themed party. Invite your friends over and have a fun celebration with food, games, and treats for your pets.

7. Teach your pet a new trick. Spend some time training your pet and have fun learning together.
