The Netherland Dwarf Rabbit breed originated in Holland in the early 20th century. It was created by breeding Polish rabbits with wild rabbits, and then selectively breeding the offspring for a smaller size.
They one of the smallest rabbit breeds, weighing only 2-2.5 pounds. It has a compact body with short erect ears and a short, dense coat that comes in a variety of colors, including black, blue, chocolate, and white.
They are sociable and active breed that enjoys interacting with its human companions. It has a strong prey drive and can become easily frightened by loud noises or sudden movements.
They should be fed a balanced diet that includes hay, fresh vegetables, and a spacious cage with plenty of room to move around and play. They also regular exercise outside of its cage such as supervised playtime in a secure area.
